Chapter Eleven

Madame Volan and her daughter came through the door of their home at the same time. Madame Volan said, “I have just rid France of the worst...” Helene said, “Father, I have the most wonderful...” They both stopped talking at the same time.

Henri Volan pointed to his wife. “Ridding France of something enormous needs to be said first. Helene may tell us of her happy news afterwards.” He held both hands up. “Wait. First, I must hold my wife. Apparently, she has been through a trial. Come here, my sweet.”

Madame Volan sought the shelter of her husband’s embrace eagerly. They held each other with a bit of desperation. They’d done this before, always after something threatened to kill one or both of them. After a few seconds, they separated. Madame Volan faced her husband and daughter with a brave face. “I have killed Le Diable. He kidnapped me and took me to a little house where he attempted to rape me.” She took a moment to congratulate herself and bask in their admiration. “I  led him along  like a lazy horse. He did everything I wanted. I just had to protest that  I didn’t want him to do it. I’d hidden a weapon in my clothes, but I was on the other side of the bed. I pleaded with him to keep me on my back. He turned me over. I pleaded with him not to penetrate me with force. That’s when he fell into my trap.” She paused to enjoy their complete attention. “I held myself above the bed. He pounced on me with a force sufficient enough to push me across the bed. I got my weapon and killed him with it.”

He kissed her cheek. “I have seen you deal with the enemies of France before, my love. What was your weapon?”

“A long hat pin. I held it in my hand and pushed it into his eye. I pounded it once to make it pierce his brain.”

Now both of her family members held her in their arms. They hugged until Volan said, “Helene, tell us of your happy news.”

Helene bounced away from her parents. “I have met the most wonderful man. He is going to ask me to marry him tomorrow. His name is Alain Bedeau.”

Volan said, “I have met him. He represents one of the oil companies in their attempt to gain the contract to supply us with oil. A most handsome and intelligent man.”

“I know. He loves me, and I love him.”

Volan asked, “I am a bit puzzled. Why would he tell you he was going to ask for your hand tomorrow? If he was close enough to tell you that, why didn’t he ask for it then?”

Madame Volan rescued Helene, “Because they were not in a romantic setting, dear. Daughters ask their mothers when and how their fathers ask for their hand. That’s quite thoughtful of the young man.”

Volan nodded. “I agree.”

Helene held her head up. She spoke slowly and with importance. She was about to make the first decision of her life that might not have her parent’s approval. “I know you won’t like this, but I feel it’s important. I don’t care what it looks like.” She took a deep breath. “The reason he didn’t ask me today is because I was seducing him openly and boldly. We were naked in each other’s arms. Now, I am going to find him and spend the night with him. All of France can read about it in the papers for all I care.”

Madame Volan said, “Francois will drive you, dear.”

Chapter Twelve

Later, Henri and Veronique retired to their bed. Veronique removed her clothes and stopped. She didn’t put on the ornate cotton nightgown she usually wore. She stood before her husband naked. She said, “Darling, I’m not as brave as I seemed when we were with Helene. I was terrified, I’m still terrified. Will you take your clothes off and hold me. Please.”

Henri heard very little of what his wife said. He stared at her breast and the bite marks it carried. “Mon petit chou chou. What has happened? Did that monster tear at you with his teeth?” He rushed to hold his wife in his arms. His hand delicately lifted her damaged breast. “I will dig him up out of the ground and kill him again.”

“Thank you, dearest. Please, just let me rest in your arms for a while.”

Henri led her to bed and helped her into it. He ran around the bed and slipped into bed and to her side. He gathered her into his embrace. She sighed in safety and happiness.

She rose up on her elbow. “He was smaller than you, Henri. And shorter. I’m afraid you’ve spoiled me for other men.”

He put his fingers on her cheek. “I will joke with you later, when I feel more calm.” He kissed her long and hard. “I am so grateful and happy that you’re alive. That is all that matters to me.’

Veronique laid her hand on her husband’s limp cock. “I’m afraid I have other needs so calm down and get hard, my husband. I need you inside me.”

“Of course my dear.”

Chapter Thirteen

Helene knocked on Alain’s door. He answered it himself. She lost a bit of her swagger. She stumbled over the words. “Alain, I... I hope I haven’t come at an awkward time. I just wanted to be with you a little more.”

Alain pulled her inside the house and closed the door. “You are welcome to my house at any time for any reason.” He kissed her. “I worry about your reputation. There will be talk.”

“I know. It’s alright. Take me to your bedroom, and I’ll explain.”

Alain led the way. His bedroom was what she expected of a man’s sleeping chamber; lots of hunting prints on the walls, a general feeling of casual messiness without clutter or dirt and the delicious smell of male animal.

She stood in the middle of the room and began removing her dress. “Darling, I found something out today.”

“What was that?”

She laid her dress on a chair and went to work on her petticoat. “Something powerful grows inside a woman when she’s met her permanent soul mate.” She dropped the petticoat on the chair. She wore only the familiar camisole. “I had to seduce you. I didn’t have a choice. My soul told me to do it. Just as I will be in your bed tonight. I must be next to you every night for the rest of my life. I will never leave. Society will talk. I will ignore it. Why do you still have your clothes on?”

Truthfully, Alain hadn’t removed anything because Helene’s beautiful body stunned him.

She walked up to him with concern in her eyes. “Breathe, my dear, breathe. You’ll faint if you don’t.”

He forcefully pushed the air out of his lungs.

After she was sure he’d recovered, she folded back the covers and slid into his bed. She brought the sheet up over her breasts. “There, now you can concentrate. What do you think of what I just said?”

“I agree. We will never be apart.”

Naked, Alain joined Helene in bed and held her beautiful body in his arms. He mumbled, “I will get to hold the most gorgeous woman in all of France every night until we die.”

Helene was very tempted to say, “Who is she? Do I know her?” She didn’t. She said, “I love you.”

Alain said, “I love you too.”

Chapter One

For Anna, going to work was always a bit of a chore.  She hated it, and for one, she always felt like she had to prove herself.  She clocked in at the local bookstore, standing at the counter and talking to a few of the customers about the latest novels.  She pushed her glasses up against her face, her petite frame leaning over the counter.  She just wished that one day, one day was all that she wanted, someone would come over and make her day all the more interesting.

She looked around.  Apparently it was another slow day here.  She thought that maybe taking a job at the local bookstore would make things easier on her, especially since she would be able to work in a place where she had something in common with the people that came in.  Books were her life, and as a quiet girl, they were her solace.

She watched the door, hoping that one day she might get someone interesting to come in.  Maybe even a loyal prince who would whisk her off her feet.  She reddened thinking about this, realizing that it would be nothing but a fairy tale.  She wanted to tell herself to get her head out of the clouds, but it was already so stuck up there that it probably wouldn’t come back down.

As she sat at the counter killing time, she heard the sound of the ring that indicated someone had come into the store.  She looked over, and immediately, she stopped.

It was two men, two very attractive men, and they were both dressed impeccable.  Anna felt nervous, realizing that she was completely under dressed in comparison to them.  She wanted to hide behind the counter, but she knew that it wasn’t in good nature.  But they both looked at her, smiling warmly.

“Hello there,” the first one said.  He was an attractive redhead with beautiful green eyes.  He had a perfect suit with a little red tie, and he looked like he had just come from a business meeting.

“Hello there.  What can I help you with?” she replied.  Anna gulped, looking at both of them.  They were both gorgeous, and she wondered how she got so lucky.  These two didn’t look like they even belonged in a store like this, rather, they probably needed to be at some fancy dinner party instead.

“Oh we’re just looking for this one book.  One of our colleagues recommended it to us.  We wanted to see if this store had it,” the other said.  He was another man with raven-colored hair that cascaded down his back, but was put in a ponytail.  Anna froze, reddening hard as she looked at them.

“Oh yes.  Let me see what I can find for you guys do you know the name of the book?” she asked.  She tried to play it off, but it was obvious that the look on her face wasn’t going to go away anytime soon.

“I think it was called ‘of wealth and prosperity,’ ” the redhead said.

She looked through the database, sighing in relief when she found it.

“Well I have it.  It’s the only copy though, so you might have to share it.  If that’s not possible, I can order you each one,” she said.

“That’s fine. We’re both willing to share,” the raven-haired man said.

Anna flushed at the way he said it.  It was almost like he was implying something, but she didn’t know what.

“Well let me check you guys out.  I’ll get this to you right away,” she said with a small squeak.  She paused as she said those words, realizing that those words too, could have quite the implication.

She practically raced over to the checkout desk where she normally haunted, avoiding eye contact with them.  She felt so embarrassed by this.  But the two men were right there.

“So Kenneth, do you want to pay for this?” the raven-haired man said.

“Sure Adrian.  I’ll take care of it,” the redhead replied.

So the dark-haired one was Adrian, and the redhead was Kenneth.  Anna made a mental note of this.

“So what’s your name?” Adrian asked.

Anna practically jumped back in fright at the sight of them.  She wondered how they were so cool about this sort of thing.

“My name is Anna.  I work here,” she said.

“That’s pretty awesome.  We heard about this place and how even though it’s a small hole in the wall, it’s a great place,” Kenneth explained.

“Well I’m glad you showed up, you definitely made my day all the more entertaining,” she replied.

“We’re glad.  Plus, cuties like you are definitely a plus for coming to this bookstore, ” Adrian said.  He looked at her, his azure eyes making contact with her green ones from behind her glasses.  She squeaked, feeling the pressure of the moment.  She flushed at the way he looked at her, and for a moment, she felt as if time had stopped.

She finished up the purchase and got them the receipt.  Kenneth signed it, but instead of giving it back right away, he slipped his card under there.  Anna looked at him with a questioning glance, and soon Adrian did the same thing.

“What are you guys doing?” she asked with shock plastered on her face.

“We just wanted to give you a little something Anna.  We definitely appreciate your great service,” Adrian explained.  They pushed the receipts into her hand and walked out before Anna could say another word.

“Well damn,” she told herself as they left.  She thought I would be just another normal day, but apparently there was something enticing and interesting today.  But what she didn’t realize was what was going on, and soon she noticed the two cards in her hand.  She looked at them, and when she saw whom it was, her jaw dropped.

Kenneth and Adrian were two of the hottest billionaires out there.  They were the two that she heard about, but didn’t know for sure.  Anna smiled; she got to meet two billionaires today, and they both flirted with her.  They also gave her their numbers.  Apparently she was attractive to them, and they liked her.  Anna felt excited, and for the rest of the day, she was feeling giddy about this.  She couldn’t wait to talk to them in the future, and she wondered what they had planned next.

Little did she know that this was the start of an interesting relationship between the three of them.
