Chapter Three

We finished lunch with Bret’s two associates rather quickly. I stayed quiet while he agreed to attend. Both men seemed pleased that I had been willing to postpone our fake date to the show in Milford. I don’t even know if there was actually something playing there.

The meal had calmed my nerves, and along with the kiss that I had shared with Bret, I was more relaxed than I think I had ever been. He took me back to my car, and I left after he gave me brief kiss on the cheek with a whispered time he’d pick me up.

I drove home in a daze. Long forgotten were the pictures I was supposed to take of his home and also the job offer I’d overheard from Scott. All that really mattered was getting home and sorting out my thoughts.

My tabby cat swirled around my legs as I set my things down. It’s long drawling meow bringing me to the present as he insisted I pet him. A scratch on the head and a smile and he was happy and quiet again.

“Bri?’ A voice sounded from my meniscal living room.

I hadn’t let anyone in. No one had a spare key. My friends and family knew to knock or call ahead so whoever it was, was a complete surprise. I would’ve been on the defense if not for the feminine tone in the slurred call of my name.

“Mary? How did you get in to my place?”

She hiccupped. Spread lazily and wrinkly across my couch, her head turned and blinked at me, eyes glazed over with drunkenness. She looked as confused as I for a moment before my question registered in her mind.

“Your maintenance man. All it took was showing him a bit of leg and WHAM he opened the door for me.”

She chortled and coughed before slouching down on the couch, her skirt still hiked up to mid-thigh. I’d never seen her in such disarray, and honestly I hadn’t even realized she knew where I lived.

“We need to call you a cab. Why are you here?”

A pack of cigarettes seemed to appear in her hand as she pulled one out and lazily lit it. Smoking wasn’t allowed in my apartment, and I didn’t particularly like it, but I didn’t feel like arguing with her while she was drunk. She was bad enough sober.

“You. You are the reason I’m probably going to lose my job. You left me hanging, you took one of the biggest possible sales of the year, and Harlow was mine. I tried to get him to boot you ya know. After you’d left his place, he refused. So, there ya go girly. The whole thing is all yours. Ten years I’ve been in the real estate biz and now it’s done.”

Her words slurred together but I got the jist of it. She was blaming me for her incompetency. Everything’s done all because I didn’t want to work as her errand girl getting paid minimum wage. She’d entered my apartment without my permission and now I didn’t even know if I could get rid of her.

During my moment of silence, she’d fallen asleep and as I watched her rolls of deep snores were barreling from her open mouth. I didn’t even have the chance to say anything to counter her vindictive accusations.

I sighed and walked around to the back of my couch, to an old trunk where I followed up extra blankets for guests. I grabbed the itchiest one I owned and carefully laid it across Mary’s body. I was still a good host, even if I hadn’t asked for it.

My elation had faded. There was no more sparkling feelings of lust and wonderment, now there was only panic as I realized that Bret would be arriving in an hour to pick me up. I knew very little about the event we were going to, and honestly anything I owned wouldn’t be up to standard with everyone else there. Just as I’d swept towards my closet and began shifting clothes around on the hangar, a knock came at the door.

Frustrated that another unwanted person was at my place, I stamped toward the door and threw it open.

“What?” I angrily hissed at a brown haired teenager in a red uniform.

“Bri Anderson?” he asked.

“Yes?”

He thrust a clipboard into my hands. “Sign here please for the delivery.”

A long garment bag hung across the boy’s shoulder. I lifted my eyebrow in suspicion but scribbled down my name and handed him back his papers as he laid the bag in my open hands. The boy started to walk down the apartment steps.

“Wait! Who’s this from?”

I didn’t see any forms or paperwork attached to the outside of the garment bag. The boy looked down at his clipboard, lifted up a page.

“A Mr. Bret Harlow.”

The delivery boy left then. Bret made fats work of things. As I unzipped the bag, a sleek but short V-neck dress dipped out of it and at the bottom of the bag out plunked a rather hard box. Inside was a pair of matching strapped heels that seemed to would need to wind around my calf.

I peered at the outfit, mouth open wide. It was a beautiful outfit, the material of the dress felt smooth but sturdy. The shoes were phenomenal, but I’d never been one to pull off such a thing. If anything I’d look like a sausage stuffed too much in the casing.

If I didn’t wear what he sent though, I might offend him. And if anything it really was the only thing I could wear that would fit in with everyone else. I decided finally to give in and at least try it on. Mary’s loud snores followed me down the short hallway to my room where I closed the door and locked myself in.

When I buckled the final strap on the side of my calf, I stood and twirled a bit. The dress was short in the front, coming up far higher than I liked but the back was longer going down to past my knees. My body snuggly fit in, and gave no room to feel comfortable really, I felt as if I was almost naked.

In the mirror though, I looked fantastic. With a pound of mascara and some lipstick I’d look as good as any other streetwalker. I chuckled at the thought and rummaged through my jewelry, finding some matching silver pieces to hang around my neck and ears.

The makeup didn’t take long either, and by the end of it, I felt pretty confident. I was looking in the mirror once again, turning back and forth in front of it to see very side of me when another knock came at the door. I knew this time who it was though.

Bret stood there, with a single white rose in his hand. His eyes opened wide as he looked me up and down and I had to suppress a fit of giggles at his cartoon like stare.

“Bri. I think this was the best purchase I’ve ever made. That dress on you is something to be reckoned with. You’ll be turning heads tonight.”

“If they’re all of the same age as your associates I’ll be glad if they don’t. I’m not much into older men. Would you like to come in for a minute though?”

I’d forgotten that Mary was still here and it wasn’t until we neared the living room and heard her sleeping roars that I tried to divert Bret back towards the door.

“Wait, who’s here?” He asked as I shoved him back to the door, shushing him the entire way.

“My boss. Well, she used to be my boss. I found her here earlier and she’s all drunk and angry.”

Bret turned from my grasp and leaned over to peer into the garbled heap of mess on my couch. He then turned back to me with a smile on his face.

“What?” I asked, a little concerned.

He didn’t answer, instead he pulled me close and his mouth crushed against mine. His hands slid down my back, grabbed at my ass and clamped there. I was surprised but fell into the rhythm of lips gently massaging against mine, his tongue flicking out and caressing against my mouth.

He stopped long enough to whisper, “Wanna fool around? If we hurry we can still make it in time?”

Forget that it had taken me nearly an hour to get ready, Bret’s hands slid along the curve of my ass to rest on the small of my back. For a moment I just looked into the dancing bit of mischievous in his eyes.

Chapter Four

I took his hand, not breaking eye contact and began walking backwards towards the bedroom. He followed, a smile playing across his lips. When my door cracked open, my fat tabby cat scuttled from the room before I closed it back again.

Our mouths met again, but with more fury, more need. Tongues clashing into on another as I gripped the back of his neck and pulled his face as close to mine as it could get. His hands wandered from the back of my skin tight black dress to the front, where delicately they traced across the bare skin of my thighs, up and up until I felt his fingers prodding against the dainty lacey panties I’d worn.

I fell back in my bed before he could touch the pink lips between my legs that were slowly growing wet with every advancing second.

I lifted a finger, calling him forward. His hands were on his belt by this point, pulling at the tail of it and wrenching it loose from the silver fastenings. He glided over me like a panther on the hunt, his arms and legs embracing me as mine met his.

Again his fingers found my panties, instead of playing around, he wrenched the delicate fabric to the side. I was too busy keeping up with our tongues grazing over one another, but when his fingers entered me, a moan escaped my mouth.

I could feel his length pressed against my thigh, hard and throbbing, without thinking my legs opened to him. Wider and wider, allowing him room to maneuver in front of me until the tip of his cock gently brushed against my entrance.

“Do you want this Bri?” he asked, breathing it into my ear.

I couldn’t speak really, the words caught in my throat, the only real thoughts in my head was the need for Bret to be inside of me. I nodded, not able to say it out loud. It isn’t something you should have to say anyway. I was laying beneath him with my legs spread, wet as could be, if I could’ve reached down and grabbed his cock I would’ve shoved it in myself.

Bret pushed inside of me, his cock touching all the right spots. Filling me with him. My hands were encircled around his neck, his mouth slowly traced down my neck as small incomprehensible noises escaped my mouth. He began to thrust, gently sliding in and out.

“Bret. Faster.” I moaned, barely able to voice the words.

He listened, pounding now, his aching piece piling into me. With a free hand he had pushed aside the neckline of the dress, my bare breast flopping out. His lips found my exposed nipple and he began to gently suck on it until it hardened.

“Harder.” I moaned.

He listened to me again. The tempo of his thrusts pushing my ass deeper into the bed, my legs wrapped around his waist. I couldn’t help the noises anymore. I was lost in ecstasy in that moment, no thoughts other than the tingling that the tip of his cock left when hit against my insides.

A wild laugh escaped me, ending with a moan as he sank deeper and deeper.  With a free hand, he began to rub my clit, within seconds it felt as if I was vibrating with pleasure. It tickled at first and then grew in momentum, making my legs quake and the grip I had on him loosen.

Bret continued to push into me, but now his head was thrown back, he grabbed at my trembling legs and threw them over his shoulders. I was nothing, just mush in his arms that’s it. Still he kept on pounding, his and my hips flooded with slick wetness. It seemed to pour out of me as he kept up his onslaught.

His climax was much more contained than mine had been. A groan while he closed his eyes and slowed his pace. The warmness slithered into me, mixing with the slickness that was dripping along my thighs.

Bret collapsed beside me. My lower half was exposed but I couldn’t move to correct it. Everything in me was still spiraling with pleasureful ripples.

I don’t know how long we lay there. Seconds, minutes, maybe an hour. At one point I may have slept. Bret nudged me with his elbow.

“We still need to go to the charity event. You wanna clean up and we’ll head out? We’re still not too late.”

Bret must have washed up and straightened his clothes without me noticing. He was zippered up and ready to go. I was still a mess, lying crumpled and tired on top of my bed spread. I nodded and finally eased myself up, legs still wobbly.

It didn’t take long to prepare myself. A quick wash in the shower, cleaned up my makeup that had incredibly stayed mostly intact. Fitted my dress back into place and maneuvered my hair under the straightener. Good to go.

Bret was waiting by my bedroom door.

“Ready!” I cheerfully announced.

He looked me over with a grin. “You still look good enough to have again.”

I blushed at the comment. Despite being so sure before, I felt rather clunky in the shoes he’d chosen for me. When we got to the front door I realized that I no longer heard Mary’s snores.

“Hang on,” I told Bret, turning back to go check on the drunken woman.

She wasn’t there. No note, nothing. She must have gone when Bret and I were playing in my bedroom. I worried momentarily for Mary, but it washed away quickly when I looked up and saw Bret looking at his watch. I wasn’t her keeper.

The ride over was short. Bret drove a sleek looking black two-door sports car that I couldn’t name. The inside was leather and filled with light blue led tinted gadgets and things. It sat low to the ground and the engine purred as he pulled into the parking lot.

A man outside took his keys and gave him a slip. I hadn’t ever been to an event where there had been a valet.

The charity for the Animal Wellness group was hosted at the city’s community center. A big event center that was often unused. Inside, tables had been spread out along the walls and covered in glimmering tablecloths, on top were items you could bid on.

Along the walls were posters of various animals that were available for adoption in the surrounding counties. Near the center in front of a podium set up on stage were round dining tables and small placards that had finely printed names.

It was filled to capacity. I was only to sort through the crowd by clinging to Bret’s hand. We were stopped several times by people wanting to say this or that to Bret before he found his reserved seat.

A waitress shimmied close by Bret and eyed him. He glanced her way and motioned for her to come over.

“Two please,” he told her. I watched the dismay on her face after she walked away.

It wasn’t long before Collins had found Bret and parked himself in the seat next to him. Collins looked at the placard and then slung it across the table.

“So, have you bid on anything yet Harlow?”

Bret took a sip of his drink and squeezed my hand.

“No, and I most likely won’t.”

There was silence between the two men as they looked at each other. Bret daring him to say more and Collins eyeing him hoping for a change in tone. I had drunk the entirety of my glass of champagne at this point and wanted more.

Bret glanced over and saw my glass empty.

“Let’s go find you a refill babe.”

I got up without question. When we were far enough away, Bret stopped me.

“What’s the deal between you and that guy?”

“I knew you would ask. He’s just a leech that’s all. I used to donate quite frequently to this program. At the beginning of my career when I didn’t know how to properly find out where the expenses went. I stopped giving when I found out he took such a high salary at the cost of the program. I can’t do anything about it, he’s a pretty big name in the community and I’ve only been here a few years. It’s part of the reason I’d rather not be here and am getting rid of my place in this town. There’s a lot of small town scandal that I have no time for.”

I had forgotten that Bret had planned to leave. And within the day I knew as little about him as when we first met that morning other than why he was trying to leave. I didn’t know what he did for a living, who he knew, if he had children or was married previously. Even his middle name was a mystery to me.

When he told me his reasons though, I felt comfortable around him. He had conscious. Most likely a rare thing with the ultra-wealthy. I had plenty of questions, but there wasn’t enough time. A waitress swung by and again Bret grabbed two full glasses and handed me one.

“Bret, why are we here? Why am I here?”

He took a sip and looked me dead in the eye. “I thought you were quite beautiful, and the way you listened to me when I spoke of my house. You had no interest in the material things really, you simply wanted to do a good job for me. It was refreshing. The last real estate woman I had at my place was rather unprofessional and took a dip in my pool when she found out I was away most of the time. The one before that tried to sleep with me on our tour. Besides all that, in this short time with you, I’ve grown to like you. There could be more here and I’m not one to pass up on chances. I feel the chemistry. Do you?”

“I do. I’m afraid your lifestyle won’t mesh with mine though Bret. I live simply and only want to find my purpose in life. You seem to already have yours. We know nothing of each other and you’re trying to leave the town where I live permanently. What more could come of this?”

The noise of people clattering around the crowded place rose in waves around us.
