Chapter Eight

Nicole was placed in her car, and she couldn’t help but to shake her head as the two of them took the blanket from her back seat, wrapping it around her as they leaned her chair back. She could see that the moon was already going down and giving way to the sun that would soon start to rise. She smiled at them once more, and she could feel the sand still all over her, but Nicole couldn’t seem to care right now.

“Goodnight.” Dean teased her, and it was Samuel’s time to chuckle.

“Night, night.” Nicole whispered, and it was barely more than whisper.

She couldn’t seem to raise her voice anymore, and her eyes started to flutter closed. She felt freer than she had been in a long time. Nicole barely heard it as they shut the door, and she was locked away in a little piece of safety, and just a short distance away the waves continued to crash against the shore.

It wasn’t until the sun was fully up and she could hear people laughing outside the door that she woke up, slightly startled. She groaned the moment she lifted her head. Nicole could feel that she was sore, and she knew that the dry liquid had to be come. She blushed, thankful that she had tinted windows so that no one could see it on her.

That’s when she realized she was naked. She looked at her steering wheel cover, pulling the blanket tighter around her before she saw the card. It was just a number written on it, but she couldn’t help but to smile. There was a part of her that knew it had to be their numbers, and that’s when it came flooded back to her. She knew why her breast and shoulder were sore, but when she ran her fingers over the spots, there were no marks to be found.

She tried to shake it away from her mind, not wanting to think about it. Nicole didn’t want to believe it.
Vampires.
She thought, and yet her head still wouldn’t wrap around more than just the word. She carefully drove home, making sure that there would be no way that she’d be pulled over and have to explain why she was driving naked. Just the thought made her blush, but Nicole could feel herself getting wet as well. From both the act and the thought of everything that had happened just last night.

She was able to get back to her house without doing anything at all, and she was luckily able to keep from getting pulled over. She shook her head a little as she pulled into the garage, happy that the door closed behind her. Nicole made sure to wrap the blanket tighter around her even when the door was closed, leaving her sandy clothes there on the passenger seat.

Nicole let the blanket drop as soon as she was in the door, feeling better when she was in her own home. That’s when she realized she was still clutching the card with the number on it, and she didn’t know if she should throw it away or not. There was a large part of her that told her that she should, but she didn’t know if she could.

Instead, she went to the kitchen, pouring herself a drink as she tucked it under her coffee part, setting some up to brew while she contemplated a shower. She shook her head, looking at the number. Even though she knew that she wasn’t going to throw it away, she didn’t want to admit to that just yet. She pulled out the gourmet coffee out, deciding to treat herself, but she still felt the sand and dried come on her. Once it was set up, she headed straight to the shower.

Nicole knew that her main goal should be to just wash everything off and let it run down the drain. Never to think of last night again, and yet every time she closed her eyes she saw glinting red eyes and fangs. Fangs she wanted to pierce her flesh as they fucked into her all over again, but she tried to chase the thought away.

It was almost too much for her, and she couldn’t help but to squeeze her thighs together as she got wet. She couldn’t ignore he arousal anymore. Her hand slipped between her legs as she started to rub her sore clit. She braced herself against the wall as she started to slip her fingers into her sore pussy, making herself moan. She knew that she couldn’t ignore it anymore. There was no way that she wouldn’t call that number. The only question to her was when, but right now all she could do was rub her clit as her own orgasm started to build

Chapter 1

It felt as if I were in a dream. A lucid one, and if my hands weren’t bound behind my back I would’ve pinched myself. The course grinding of the rope against my wrists woke me, the mild pain and discomfort bringing me to the surface reality. At first the room’s features came in fuzzily as if the images before me weren’t loaded fully.

Against one wall, an oversized portrait of a menacing old man stooped over and gripping tight to a cane. At first I thought it was a very large photograph. As my eyes began to focus the intricate brush strokes that made up the figure’s face proved otherwise.

Overhead, a bright chandelier, the lights dancing across a long polished table where I sat at the head. The room was empty, save for myself blearily lolling my eyes across the over embellished dining room.

“Ah. It’s awake, nice to have you aware in time for the feast.”

A pallid man had come into the room, dressed in Victorian aged clothes, minus the expected dust. My tongue still felt numb as I tried to respond, to question what he wanted and how it was I had come to be here.

He noticed my lips opening and closing and grinned, a flash of white teeth made my blood run cold as the glint of sharp canines made themselves apparent.

“Don’t struggle little bird. The more you tense the quicker blood flows. I’d rather have a nice slow drink.”

The last thing I remember is running. It wasn’t a flight away from anything frightening. I enjoyed having an evening jog around my suburban neighborhood. The memories between then and now were gone.

“Why?” I could finally gasped out. My tongue felt heavy and dry. A drink of water would be my dying wish at this rate.

The pale man that had stayed staring hungrily at me snorted. “Why? That isn’t what people in your position ask. They just beg for their lives thinking I’m a stereotypical human serial killer. Do you have any idea what I am, girl?”

I didn’t want to attempt to speak again, my dry throat still pulsing from the one echoed word I’d just uttered. Groggily I shook my head to answer him.

He didn’t answer right away, instead taking several short steps toward where I sat, pulled out a chair beside me and sat with his legs crossed at the ankle and hands resting in his lap.

“You don’t. You’ll figure it out soon enough though. It’ll be your last thought as I drain the life from you. I’ve got guests arriving soon, maybe you’ll gather enough from them before we have you.”

He leaned over and opened my half closed eyelid. Up close, he smelled of rot. Something I’d only come across when passing by road kill.  The smell brought up whatever was in my stomach, my head cocked to the side just in time.

“Blerg. You creatures are disgusting. It’s a shame we couldn’t extract from you without being up close.”

A knock came at a door just outside the room. The pale man, still revolted at my heaving, clutched at a white handkerchief he’d fetched from his pocket. He stood and walked away from me, not bothering to look back.

I had to get out.

Squirming did nothing. The rope only got tighter around my wrist. I didn’t know much of ropes, but he must have used a special knot in my case. The man’s frigid voice echoed into the room, the words became incoherent before they reached my ears but the tone was apparent.

His guests had arrived, which left me only seconds to figure out a way to escape. I tried to stand, but each attempt cause my knees to buckle. My eyes burned as the hopelessness set in with every failure to move.

“A fine specimen you’ve acquired Benjamin. She looks absolutely delicious. Have you done a blood test?” A withered looking man had entered. I froze beneath their stares. mind buzzing as I realized it was the man from the portrait.

Both of them had toothy grins stretched across their mouths.

“Of course. O+, clean and clear of everything. Her name is Lauren Morrison. I found her over on the east side, out for a stroll.” Benjamin purred to the old man as if he were a cat returning to his master.

Words were coming to mind, a scream tried to escape my throat, I wanted to call out but couldn’t. Suddenly, both men froze, smiles sliding off their faces as rumbling noise filled the room. The front door began to quake.  Something slammed against it, wood cracking. Just as both men stooped to a crouch the door buckled.

A body launched itself through, rolling past my view and across the ground. I’d never seen someone move so quickly. The hopeless was still there. If that thing planned to dine on me as well, I could kiss any escape plan goodbye.

The men sprung on the figure. The old man agile and jumping quicker than any Olympic athlete known to man. The thin cat like Benjamin at his side they pounced on the intruder. I was left to only listen and wait.

Bangs and growls sounded through the room, but within a few moments there was nothing but silence surrounding footsteps. A figure loomed into the dining room, staring at me. He was all muscle and shirtless. A fearsome look etched into the man’s face.

“Please, don’t kill me.” The words hurt my throat, but I had to beg, just once, if there was even a glimmer of a chance of escape.

The man laughed as he strode closer. I couldn’t help but cower and stare hard at the floor as a tear streaked down my face.

“I’m not here to kill you ma’am. The opposite really. Come on. Let’s get you out of this thing.”

Chapter 2

I had never been hoisted over someone’s shoulder. Well, I take that back. Maybe as a child it might have happened, or even during my black out. I wasn’t sure how the pair of deranged lunatics had gotten me from my neighborhood streets into their house. For all I know they had a white van they drove around and collected people for their “feast.”

The muscled guy who just ripped me from my captures didn’t even hesitate when he saw that I couldn’t stand. He also didn’t ask if I was ok with being flung over his shoulder. It was an odd point of view being carried away like that. As my rescuer dashed from the door, I got a look at the old man and Benjamin crumpled on the floor.

Neither looked too banged up, just out of it. Whatever my rescuer did had knocked them out cold. Honestly, I would’ve preferred them dead. Yeah, I realize wishing them dead isn’t the best route to take morally but they’d been planning my demise for whatever reasons.

I figured my rescuer would be taking me to a car and driving to a police station, instead we ended up a few houses down. He jingled some keys and reshuffled my weight before opening the door. I got a brief look at a long immaculate lawn. The house he was opening was huge in comparison to the others that stretched across the neighborhood. Maybe he was the maintenance man.

“Are you ok? Did they taste you?” The man asked as he placed me on a burgundy loveseat that sat in the middle of what looked like a parlor. Who even has a parlor? It reminded me of waiting room, magazines on a side table and all.

My throat still hurt but the short stent breathing in fresh air had lightened the burning sensation.

“I’m fine now. Thank you, so much. Can we call the police now? Before those guys show up here?”

My head had finally cleared and despite the rope burns around my wrist, I felt better. My heart was fluttering in my chest like a caged hummingbird.

“We can’t go to the police ma’am. I know you’re scared, and you want to get away but I’m going to have to ask you stay put and not jump into action.”

“What do you mean we can’t go to the police? Two guys just had me strung up and were threatening to EAT me? Does that not make any sense to you? And on top of all this I don’t even know your name.”

I waited a moment for him to respond but jumped back into my tirade before a word could escape his lips.

“I am Damon. Of course, you don’t understand. You’re a normal human being that doesn’t eat people. Those freaks though, they need to be locked up. What if they just go pick someone else up?”

I figured this guy would be shocked or repulsed at finding out what those freaks had planned but his face showed nothing but embarrassment.

“I know what they had planned. I get it. It’s scary. Look, we just can’t involve human police.”

Instead, I was the one with the shocked expression.

“You knew what they had planned? You know that you’re monsters are fucking serial killers? What are you in on it too?”

I tried to stand. Unlike previously I did get my legs under me and was able to walk a few feet towards the door without collapsing again.

“Wait! You can’t leave miss. Look, I’m not like them but I know what they are.”

Even if I had wanted to leave, I couldn’t. This guy was built like a linebacker and I’d seen the speed in which he moved. I’d get two steps out the door and be swept back inside. The only option I had was hearing him out, even if every brain cell in my head was telling me to scream and run.

“You’ve got five minutes to explain yourself before I start screaming and wake up the whole neighborhood.”

Probably not the best move, but it’s all I had. He was pacing now, left to right in tight circles in front of me while running his huge hands through his short brown hair.

“You won’t believe me. I just need you to trust me.”

“I’ll believe just about anything right now. Get on with it.”

He stopped finally and stared hard into my face, lines of worry creased around his mouth where a light stubble of dark hair was growing in.

“Their vampires. Both of them. There are a few more scattered throughout the neighborhood. I’m here to thwart any human dining they line up. Wherever the vamps go, my kind will follow.”

He was incredibly serious when he said it. No mocking laughter in his tone nothing, and despite my better judgment I laughed. Maybe I was still sort of out of it but I laughed for way longer than necessary.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I stalked over to a window and pushed aside heavy drapes to peer across the dark lawn, “a crazy man has saved me from even crazier people. Maybe you’re all equally crazy and this is all just a bad dream. I think I may need therapy when I wake up.”

“I’m not crazy ma’am. I’m just being honest with you. I realize you’ve been through a lot tonight but if you want to make it through the night you’re going to have to stay put.”

“And then what? They come after me the following night?”

He’d sat down now and I could see from the corner of my eye that he was watching me, waiting for another outburst.

“No, then tomorrow during the day you leave. You leave this town, you leave this state, maybe even this country and pick up somewhere else and you don’t come back.”

I stopped looking out the window and turned to him. Angry at the suggestions he was making.

“I have a life you know. I shouldn’t have to run. I should be able to just call the police and have these maniacs locked up.”

“I never said this was fair. It just a suggestion. Stay and die if you will but that just means I saved you for no reason at all. I could’ve stayed lounging and drinking.”

I finally got a look around and realized how big of a house it really was. The tile beneath my feet gleamed, decorations on the wall looked like they cost more than my raggedy car.

“Not to change the subject dude, but where the hell am I? Whose house is this?”

“Mine.”
