After my dad left, Mark turned
to face me. He reached down and gently cupped my face in his hands. His gaze was soft as he stared into my eyes and stroked his thumbs along my jawline and over my lips, so softly and yet his touch was like fire on my skin. His eyes were like a magnet, capturing mine with a pull I couldn’t resist. Finally, after a long pause he leaned down and took my mouth in a soft kiss. It was slow and soft but filled with passion, and as his lips stroked gently across mine I felt his emotions open up and pour into me. I gasped from the intensity of his emotions.

“Alyssa, I love you with all my soul.” He said fervently.

I felt my body warm as my heart swelled and began to thump frantically, pumping and heating my body with blood. I was so happy at that moment. He’d only ever said the words to me while our lives were threatened and he thought he was going to lose me. It meant so much to me to hear them now. “I love you too, Mark. With
all
of my soul.”

He kissed me once more and then took my hand in his and walked me down to the lake. “Where are we going?” I asked.

“We are going to relax. I think we both need a vacation.” He sat in the Adirondack chair on the dock and pulled me into his lap.

I wrapped my arms around his neck. “I don’t know Mark. I just recently started working at my job, I’m not sure I can get the time off.” I teased.

He chuckled and kissed my neck, whispering into my ear. “Oh, I think I may be able to pull some strings. I know the boss.”

We sat like that until well after sunset, kissing and touching and finally fe
eling a sense of being…complete. Whole. It was the most peace I had ever known.

About the Author

Writing is my passion, although, I do have a “real job” and juggle my time between work, kids, and a husband. I am also an avid reader. When I’m not working or taxying kids around, I am usually writing a book, reading a book, or talking about a book on Goodreads. I will read any genre from horror to mystery, but I am a sucker for romance—especially paranormal romance. I love paranormal because
anything
is possible. Whatever the mind can conceive is fuel for a story, there are no limits.
