“Thank you for not mentioning this.”

“Ain’t doin’ it for you. Now, back to the fuckin’ topic. Know why Megan so powerful? Cuz she know how to wield it. She use it wisely and with fairness. That’s why she has it and that’s why she keep it.”

“Of course. She’s perfect. An angel.”

“No motherfucker perfect. Megan spoiled as fuck and she got a fucked up temper. She like to throw shit but that make her human. She ain’t a fuckin’ puppet.”

“What am I supposed to do when I get back to the club?”

“Whatever the fuck you wanna do. Once you back with John Boy, and as long as you stick to our agreement, I’ma leave you the fuck alone.”

“I can’t be just a housewife. How would it look, after I stayed on Meggie to have her own money, if I ended up being just like her?”

“Not a motherfucker would give a fuck. We too busy livin’ our own fuckin’ lives. Lemme ask you. What the fuck you been doin’ here?”

“What is there to do? I cook for Johnnie and the kids. He’d come alone so we can make love and intended to do it again, although with the miscarriage...” Her voice trailed off at his glare and she huffed. “I read and walk outside. Listen to music.”

“The point is you fuckin’ survivin’. Even if you never get another fuckin’ job, you got shit to do.”

“Why are you bein’ so nice to me, if you don’t want to sleep with me?”

“Mort and Digger nice to you and they don’t want pussy from you.”

“Mort did when we first met, but, knowing Johnnie liked me, he backed off.”

The fact that Mort had been attracted to her appeased her inner narcissist.

“Digger has always taken a protective role toward me. That leaves you.”

“Ain’t got fuck-all for you. Cuz you ain’t gettin’ from me what the fuck you want. I ain’t lyin’ and sayin’ I ever wanted to fuck you and I ain’t
fuckin’
you. How many different fuckin’ languages my ass need to learn so I can finally make you fuckin’ understand? English ain’t fuckin’ cuttin’ it.”

She burst into tears, her loud cries irritating the fuck out of him. “Shut the fuck up, Kendall,” he ordered roughly, scowling at her. “Your fuckin’ sobs don’t mean shit to me. Cry a fuckin’ river and I ain’t givin’ a fuck.”

Just like that, she stopped and swiped her wet cheeks. “You asshole.”

“Get dressed,” he said for what felt like the fiftieth fucking time. “My ass ready to ride out.”

“I’m hungry.”

“Tough fuckin’ shit. You comin’ with me now or you waitin’ ‘til later when Johnnie get here. Ain’t gonna be a surprise but the end fuckin’ result will still be your ass back at the club.”

“I want to ride back with you.”

Despite knowing he’d
never
fucking like her, he couldn’t help but laugh at her eagerness. “I bet the fuck you do.”

But, later, when he led Kendall back into the clubhouse and Johnnie saw her, Christopher knew he’d done the right thing.

“Kendall?” Johnnie whispered, looking in disbelief from her to Christopher.

“Hi Johnnie,” she whispered.

“Fuck, gorgeous, you’re here.” He lifted her off her feet and hugged her tightly, swinging her around. When he set her on her feet, he gazed at Christopher. “Things are okay?”

It didn’t even bother him that Christopher had gone to her without his knowledge. Kendall needed to take note of that and realize how much Johnnie trusted her.

“Me and Kendall settled up shit between us,” he said. “You been so fuckin’ sad, I thought havin’ your bitch back might cheer you up.”

“I’m fucking indebted to you,” Johnnie told him. “You’re putting aside your differences on my behalf.”

“As long as she behave.” Christopher wanted to be absolutely clear. “If she fuck with Megan again, threaten to tell any bullshit I ain’t wantin’ Megan to know, all bets off.”

“I know,” Johnnie said, only relief showing in his face. “But after Kendall lost our baby, I think she realized how out-of-hand the entire situation had gotten. She wants to make amends.”

She had no fucking choice, if she wanted Johnnie to be kept in the dark. “I think she finally under-fuckin-stand the situation, too,” Christopher said. “I still ain’t gonna talk to the bitch and I still don’t like her ass, but she your woman so she needed to be back.”

Johnnie smiled at Kendall. “See, sweetheart? Family is everything.”

Blinking back tears, Kendall nodded. “I’ve been so sad about the baby, Johnnie,” she whimpered.

“I know,” he soothed. “I have too.”

“Can we try for another one? I’ll stay in bed and not move for the entire pregnancy. It just hurts so bad and I need to find a way to ease my pain.”

“We’ll talk to your doctor,” Johnnie promised, kissing her tenderly and cupping her chin. “Just don’t stress yourself out. Even if we never have another child, we have Rory and Matilda.”

“But I lost our Baby Biker and now this baby. I feel s-so awful.”

He hugged her. “Shh. You survived both times and that’s what matters. We’ll always mourn our lost kids.”

“Meggie only lost one baby. I can’t see how she survived. Losing two is ten times worse.”

Christopher’s fucking cue to get the fuck out of there. “Later, John Boy,” he called, heading to the door, knowing Kendall would always be a lying manipulator. If her bullshit made Johnnie happy, then Christopher was fucking ecstatic.

Chapter Seventy-Two - Ophelia

As the teetotaler in the group, Meggie volunteered to be the designated driver for Bunny’s bachelorette party, a week after Kendall’s return. She’d wanted to be a part of the wedding and had met with Bunny, but Fee didn’t know the outcome. Fee was happy that her weekend would be filled with acitivities, with both Cash and Stretch out of town.

They’d gone in different directions—Cash to Houston and Stretch to New York—but they’d both invited her, going so far to suggest they rendezvous in one city or the next. Fee declined, deciding she’d enjoy herself with her family after making up with both her brother and sister, and let the guys do whatever. If they wanted to meet up, that was fine with her, especially after the way they’d been enjoying each other’s bodies. She knew she had a place in their lives, and always would.

Now, as Meggie halted Bailey’s Escalade outside of a Portland strip club, she frowned. “This is where you had me change the venue to, Kendall?”

“Says the girl who has us in jean shorts, skull caps, motorcycle boots, and tank tops that says
Bride’s Bitches
. Real fucking classy.”

Zoann handed Kendall a glass of jungle juice that Meggie made for the ride over. “Drink this, Kendall, and enjoy yourself. You’re back. You’re alive. We’ve put all the bullshit behind us. Be happy.”

“Kendall, if we go into a strip club, Christopher will hunt these men down and kill them.”

Instead of responding to Meggie, Kendall gulped half the contents of her glass first. “Why the fuck would you tell him?”

“He’ll ask me, and I’m not going to lie to him.”

“Let’s take a vote,” Kendall said, smirking at Meggie’s profile. “All those in favor say aye.”

Kendall and Bunny were the only ones who spoke. Before Kendall said anything—which wouldn’t be good judging by her dark frown—Meggie sighed.

“It’s your party, Bunny,” she said glumly. “If you want to see a stripper, we’ll see a stripper.”

“Let’s stay an hour,” she suggested, “because you’re right. Outlaw will have Cash blow up this place.”

“After Johnnie rips their cocks off,” Zoann said. “And Val plucks their eyeballs out.”

“Yeah. Lucas will get his special tools,” Bailey added.

“Hmm,” Bunny said, a thoughtful look on her face. She pressed her hand against her belly. “Mark will probably dig the graves.”

“All of you are wimpy spoilsports.” Kendall finished her drink and held up her glass so Zoann could pour more into it. “Let’s just go to whatever boring little place you wanted to take us.”

Ignoring Kendall, Meggie met Bunny’s gaze in the rearview mirror. “What do you want to do?”

“You’re my matron-of-honor, so whatever you have planned is fine with me.”

Meggie drove them to a pretty two-story house surrounded by flowers and an emerald green lawn. A fountain stood in the circular driveway.

“The house belongs to a client of Zoann and me,” Meggie explained, pulling out a key and opening the door. “He’s rented the house to us for the evening. His neighbors are really rigid, so we can’t make a lot of noise. Otherwise, they’ll call the cops on us.”

How could the six of them make enough commotion for that outcome?

Meggie led them through the house to a big room, decorated with the colors of Bunny’s wedding. A sign with
Congratulations, Bunny
hung from the center of the room. A table laden with food, a chocolate fountain surrounded with strawberries, and a punch bowl with what Fee recognized as more jungle juice, made her mouth water. Personalized plates, cups, and napkins with the words
Bunny’s Bachelorette Party
and the date were stacked amidst the food and drink.

“Oh my God, you didn’t!” Zoann cried, screaming with laughter. “Megan Caldwell!”

As they all turned to the table Zoann stood in front of, Meggie winked at Fee.

“A chocolate dick cake,” Bailey giggled.

Next to it were treat bags, overflowing, and personalized. Fee grabbed one and went to the only table there with chairs around it. Seating herself, she poured the contents of the bag out, finding edible underwear, glowing condoms, penis lollipops, a blindfold, a bracelet resembling a chain, a small tube of warming lubricant, and a deck of cards with naked people in sexual positions. To Fee’s amazement, everything had been personalized.

Kendall sat, pouring the contents of her bag out, too, and frowning. She picked up each item then dropped it back into the bag as the others joined them. “C’mon, Meggie. Let’s start with the boring games.”

Each of them had drinks. Fee was certain Meggie’s was the nonalcoholic version. As Kendall sounded so put-out and bored, Meggie sipped serenely.

“Yeah, we’ll play some puzzles, for little prizes I got.”

The look on Zoann’s face matched the disappointment Fee felt.

“Anytime you all are nice enough to accept me back into the fold, we can accept Meggie’s bachelorette shower,” Kendall announced.

Fee sighed and Meggie rolled her eyes.

“Let’s not start the night on the wrong foot,” Bailey said, ever the voice of reason. “I’m happy we’re all together as friends and family.”

Although Fee didn’t intend to share any great secrets with Kendall, she had thawed toward her, as had the rest of the girls. First and foremost, they had Johnnie to think about. Second, Kendall was returning to a semblance of normalcy. She’d sworn
this
time she’d stay on her medicine, even if she got pregnant again.

Meggie looked at her watch. “It’s time for the games, okay?”

“Sure, baby,” Zoann said with forced enthusiasm. “Do you want me to start?”

“Yeah…” Meggie’s voice trailed off at the sound of the doorbell. She scrunched up her nose. “Be right back,” she sighed.

The moment Meggie left, Zoann dropped her head onto the table. “When Meggie said party, as opposed to
shower
, I was ecstatic. Showers are soooo fucking boring. It looks like we’re in for a long, boring night.”

“Yeah,” Bailey said in low tones. “I don’t want to hurt Meggie’s feelings, but this does sound kind of boring.”

“She did the best she could,” Bunny said in her defense. “Everything’s beautiful. But she knows her husband, so this is what we get.”

“Um, hey,” Meggie said from the doorway, a funny look on her face.

Guilt hit Fee immediately. She was sure Meggie had overheard.

“Meggie, I’m not drinking,” Bunny rushed out. “The baby. If you want to indulge tonight, go right ahead.”

“Oh fuck,” Kendall said, straightening suddenly.

Fee turned, her gaze falling on a police officer.

“We haven’t made any noise,” Bailey said.

“Understood, ma’am,” the man said.

“Fuck, he’s hot,” Zoann whispered.

Fee had to agree. His tall, muscled frame, and gorgeous hazel eyes competed with swaths of dark hair sticking out from his hat and a square jaw.

“But I got a report of noise,” he said, oblivious to the way they were checking him out.

“We haven’t made any fucking noise,” Kendall snapped. “Thanks to Meggie and her wonderful plans, we
won’t
make any noise, so please leave. You’ve done your checking. Anything else and you’re infringing upon our rights.”

“I see,” the man said tightly, his gaze falling on Bunny. “Well, I’m here for
her
,” he stressed, removing his hat and throwing it aside.

His hands at his shirt, he ripped it open as the song
Closer
by Nine Inch Nails blasted from somewhere.

Fee’s mouth dropped open as the police officer-stripper-hot dude went from being completely dressed to nothing but a G-string in a moment. They all shrieked as he pulled Bunny to her feet and danced down her body.

At first, she froze, but then she got into the spirit of it and started dancing along with him.

“Here!” Meggie said, handing out small rolls of cash. When Fee unrolled hers, she found five twenties and five ones.

The guy went to each of them, dancing and grinding. Meggie didn’t dance with him, but she followed his every move as he gyrated around her.

“I want the song from the movie,” Kendall cried, her face flushed with pleasure and happiness. “I gave you all the twenties. Will you take my ones?”

“I’ll take whatever you’d like to give me,” the stripper responded, and Kendall squealed. “What movie are you referring to?”

“Oh, I know!” Bailey cried, breathless from her dancing. A moment later
Pony
came on and the hot dude grinned.

“I can do that one easily, but only if you dance with me, beautiful.”

Kendall got to her feet. “Oh, I can do that,” she retorted with a smirk, just as un-shy about her dancing as she had been with the naked yoga.

“You’re
not
keeping him to yourself,” Zoann said, getting into the action and grinding her way to Meggie. “Come on. You had us all fooled.”

“I had you all worried,” she replied, giving in to Zoann and dancing, though she kept a respectable distance between herself and the stripper.

When the song came to a close, they all clapped and whistled.

“I can tell your husband you stayed away,” the man said to Meggie, winking at her.

“Yep.”

Kendall went still. “Are you fucking kidding? Outlaw hired him.”

“No, Christopher let
me
hire him. We went to Derby’s clubhouse and Christopher introduced me to Jax,” Meggie explained.

“Fuck, who cares?” Zoann said. “What’s important is you got him here.”

Meggie pointed in the direction they’d come. “The stereo is that way, Jax.”

“You got it,” he said, unbothered that he wore only a G-string.

“Oh my God, his ass is…is…” Kendall’s voice trailed off.

That
,” Fee finished on a giggle, whatever
that
might be.

“First game,” Meggie called over their rowdiness. “We see who has the best stripper moves. I have got a sex toy for the winner.”

“Oooo, me first,” Bunny said.

“No, you were a professional,” Kendall responded. “You’ll win every round.”

Zoann snorted and shook her head.

“It’s true!” Kendall protested.

“What song do you want, Bunny?” Meggie asked, ignoring Kendall’s objections.

“You Can Leave Your Hat On.”

Meggie sent a text and a moment later Jax dragged in a case. When he opened it, he revealed a portable strip pole.

“Yeah, Meggie!” Zoann cheered. “You thought of everything!”

“We’re really losing to Bunny now,” Kendall complained.

“That’s mean,” Bailey said.

“Ignore her, like I am,” Zoann told them as Jax left.

A minute later, Bunny’s requested song came on. Bunny had killer moves. She’d been a stripper in the past, but her graceful movements reminded Fee of a classically trained dancer.

Next, Bailey surprised Fee at her skill as she danced to a song called
The Art of Seduction,
though she stayed away from the pole. When Zoann asked for
Luv Me, Luv Me
and climbed the pole, hanging upside down and shaking
,
they all screamed and hollered.
