Roux smirked. “You’re not intimidating me, Garin. You have skeletons of your own. And plenty I could quid-pro-quo you with. So, while I appreciate you calling to gloat over your assumptions, I really must bid you adieu.”

“Before you do,” Garin cut in. “Just don’t forget what I’ve said. Bye now.”

The phone went dead in Roux’s hand. Sitting in his chair, he turned and stared out the window that overlooked his grounds.

And for a long time, he just sat there.
