She’s straining against me and I’m
pounding into her. I’m glad that no one can see us up here. Mine is the only
building this tall for several blocks. I planned it that way. Jane is clenching
down on me hard. Shit, I can’t wait and I don’t want to go without her. I reach
around and pinch her clit and she detonates around me. Wet white hot heat
surrounds me and the world shatters. My balls tighten and pump her full of my
seed. I coat her womb in it. My teeth graze her neck. I want to mark her every
time I’m with her but I know it hurt her the first time. Jane does not like
biting and it’s unfortunate because she’s the first one I ever wanted to sink
my teeth into. I kiss her instead and she sighs. I nibble her ear while she’s
still convulsing around me. I stay with her through the contractions then pull
her sweats up and cover her. I pull mine up too but I stay pressed against her
keeping her warm. “Let’s go inside.” I say against her neck and take her hand.
I lead her into the living room. “Do you want to watch TV or would you rather
go to bed?” She looks for a clock but doesn’t find one. I don’t have one in the
apartment. I use my phone. I pull it out of my pocket and show it to her.

“Bed.” She tells me and leads me
down the hall. I follow like an obedient pup. If she wants to lead I will
follow her anywhere. My phone chirps again. Damnit. I never realized how many
phone calls and texts I get until she complained. She keeps walking and I pull
it out. It’s from security. Max is sending Mikey home for the night. She will
return tomorrow morning at nine for more training with him. I don’t respond. I
don’t care. All I care about it what’s in front of me right now. The long dark
hair that’s swaying as she walks, the hips that are swaying as she walks, and
the ass I’m anxious to see again.

Jane drops my hand and takes her
clothes off then climbs into bed. I pick them up and throw them in the hamper
with mine. I climb in after her and pull her close to me. “I love you Jane.”

“Love you too.” She snuggling close
to me and already falling asleep. She feels incredible in my arms but for now
I’m satisfied.

~18~

I wake up and Jake is snoring
softly behind me. I don’t think we moved all night. I untangle myself and go to
the bathroom. Once I’ve emptied my bladder, I turn the shower on and step
inside. My thighs are sticky from the balcony sex we had last night. I think he
really liked that. It was fast. I kept looking for anyone that might see us but
didn’t find anyone. It was my attempt at forgiveness. I know he said that he
was sorry and he wanted me to forgive him but I didn’t feel right until we
finished on the balcony. I scrub my hair and condition it then use the shower
gel on the rest of my skin. I turn it off and get out. Jake is coming in when
I’m wrapping my head. I raise up and he smirks at me.

“That’s a good look.” I stick my
tongue out at him and go to the sink to brush my teeth. He leans over and
kisses my temple. I put on some mascara then brush my hair and blow it dry. I’m
thinking about cutting it off but I don’t think he’d like that. I’m going to
get Jesse to cut it while I’m home though. I at least need a trim. If she’s
home and if she has time that is. Jesse is a pack mate and our private barber
slash hairdresser. I put it all up in a ponytail and leave the bathroom. I’m in
my closet deciding what to wear when Jake comes to the door. “I’m going to the
kitchen, what do you want for breakfast?” I shrug. I haven’t thought that far
ahead and I’m not that hungry. “I’ll surprise you.”

“Nothing big. I’m still digesting
my meatloaf.” He gives me a salute and leaves. I don’t know what to wear so I
settle on a pair of black pants and a cream silk blouse. I put the black flats
on that are sitting on the floor under the outfit. Everything fits perfectly.
That woman has skills I have to hand it to her. I go to find Jake.

When I get to the kitchen, I find
Jocelyn instead. “Good morning Jane.” She says. “What can I get you for
breakfast? Mr. Williams is having an omelet.”

“That’s fine.” I answer her.

“What would you like in it?” She’s
looking at me expectantly.

“Whatever he is having is fine.
Just half the size of his, please.” She nods. I don’t know if I’m going to like
it and I know if I don’t, I’ll have trouble eating it. Jake comes into the
kitchen and kisses my temple again. I give him a look. I’d prefer his kisses to
land on my lips once in a while. The temple kiss seems so…brotherly. Ugh, I
don’t want to think about that, it still freaks me out a little. God. I can
just imagine the fun Laurie Tickle would have with that piece of gossip.

“How is your sister Jocelyn?” Jake
interrupts my thoughts and sits at the bar. He pats the chair next to him.
Jocelyn pours coffee for both of us.

“She’s fine now sir. Thank you for
everything.” He nods and sips his coffee. She puts orange juice out next. “Are
you having Thanksgiving dinner here sir?”

“No. We are going
to my Dads. Don’t worry about us. We will leave first thing tomorrow after
breakfast and won’t return until the weekend.” She gives him a nod. “If you
want to cook for the security crew, feel free but don’t feel obligated. They
can feed themselves if you don’t.” She smiles and goes back to the stove. She
brings two omelets over. It smells like ham and cheese. There are fried
potatoes and onions on the side. Yum. I dig in. It’s better than I expected and
I’m suddenly hungry. Jake watches me eat and sips his coffee. He’s waiting
until it cools off, I don’t mind blowing on mine to cool it off. He’s always
waited. He’ll sit there and sip coffee for a while then he’ll destroy the
omelet.

I go to the media room when I
finish and turn the TV on. No small feat. I watch the morning news while I wait
for Jake.  I’m curled up in a chair finishing my coffee when he comes in and
sits next to me. “What’s going on?”

“It’s cold outside today.” All I’ve
seen is the weather. “Are you ready?” He nods and offers me a hand to get up.
He turns the TV off.

“Do you like to watch the news
during breakfast?” I do but I don’t want to eat in this room. If I spill
something…I nod and grimace.

“Okay.” It’s all he says then he
leads me out the front door to the elevator. “Jocelyn will pack for us while we
are gone today. I think she was anxious to get rid of us so she can clean. The
doors open and I follow him inside.

“I can pack my own clothes.”

“I told her to put jeans and tee
shirts with words all over them in your suitcase.” I giggle at that. I wonder
if he’s lying. The doors open and we’re in his office.

“Do you want more coffee?” He nods
and I go to the machine. I don’t want more. I bring it to him and go to my
desk. “Should I check your email and calendar?” He nods. He’s checking messages
on his desk phone. How does he have messages when the cell phone rings all the
time? I’m glad no one calls me.

He has an email from Mikey thanking
him for the interview and the opportunity. I leave it. She should thank him.
She caused many problems, no matter who her sister was and no matter how funny
she is. She hacked our TV for goodness sake and I have trouble turning the
thing on. The one at Dad’s has a remote for the cable box. You push the red
button and everything comes on. Easy breezy, not Jake’s junk. It’s like mission
control on the international space station in there. I click the next email.

Mr. Williams- We are declining
your offer to buy our company at this time. If you would like to make another
offer, we would be happy to entertain it.

E.A.Lyons

 I blow out a breath. Jake won’t
like this. I leave it too. I scroll through the rest of them and file
accordingly. When I finish, I get up and go into his office. “You have an email
from Mr. Lyons. He said he’s turning your offer down. I’m sorry.” Jake’s smile
broadens slowly until it stretches across his face. “What?” I think he’s lost
it.

“Hostile takeover.” I quirk my
mouth. What does that mean? “Let the games begin.” He leans back in his chair
and puts his hands behind his head, fully relaxed. I don’t understand. “I
offered to keep them on board as part of the deal. They were going to make a tidy
profit and still get to run it. They would have had stock options and kept
benefits like company cars. It was stupid to turn all of that down.”

“Would you have accepted that
offer?” I squeak and he shakes his head. “No, I don’t have to, my company is financially
healthy. His is not. He is in trouble.”

“So what does all this mean?”

“It means that I am going to finish
my coffee, have some desk sex, and then I am going to annihilate them. It will
not be a pleasant Thanksgiving at the Lyons compound.” I sit down hard on the
visitor chair and fold my arms over my chest while I stare at him. He waits
while I formulate my thoughts. Jake folds his arms over his chest and lifts an
eyebrow. “I think I am about to get dressed down.” I nod. “Okay. What Jane?”

“It’s not necessary to be unkind.”
His jaw flexes. “Would anything change if you waited until Friday to annihilate
them?” He shrugged. “If it won’t wait until Friday then go ahead but if it can,
choose the high road and let them enjoy the holiday.” Jake starts banging on
his keyboard. I get up and go back to my desk. I just think it’s rude to spoil
dinner. Someone is bound to be working on a nice meal for the family. What did
he expect them to say? Sure, come on over, steal our life’s work! I shake my
head and check his calendar. He has four meetings today. Two of them are
scheduled to last more than two hours. Crap. I’m not a fan of meetings already.
Legal is first and it starts in five minutes. I gather my things.

“You have a meeting in legal in
five minutes. Should I go ahead and listen to the room or wait?”

“Wait. Those guys won’t talk in
front of you and they’ll already know who you are when you walk in the room.
Stay with me, sit beside me, and don’t talk to any of them. Take notes and pay
attention. This is about the takeover.”

“How did you schedule a meeting
about this before it happened? They just turned you down a minute ago.” I don’t
think I’m cut out for this job, there’s too much strategy.

“They had until this morning to
accept. If they had I would have cancelled this meeting, but I anticipated they
would turn me down. They are way too arrogant to accept their failures. Come.”

I stay beside Jake and keep my
mouth shut. I take notes. Jot down names and descriptions of these men in the
fancy suits. They all look very well paid and very successful. When the one
sitting closest to me leans over to see what I’m writing I move my chair away
from him discreetly. It thankfully has wheels. Jake notices but keeps talking.
They are plotting together. When the oldest looking attorney Edmund tells Jake
that he can have this closed before the bird is served, I perk up. Jake puts
his hand up.

“I don’t want you to begin until
Friday morning. Let them enjoy the bird.” Edmund is flustered and angry. His
face is beet red and he smacks the table with his hand. Jake cocks his head and
folds his arms over his chest. His biceps bulge under his dress shirt. Wow. He
is so good looking and I can’t help but think about that desk sex that I gave
up to protect someone else’s dinner.

“Jake, that’s stupid. You have to
strike now.” Jake looks at me. He wants me to speak, so I do.

“Why?”

“Why what? Who the fuck are you
anyway? You don’t make decisions in this company. You started when? Yesterday?
This was your idea, this waiting bullshit, wasn’t it? Jake, you can’t listen to
some stupid skirt.” I swallow.

“You haven’t answered her
question.” Jake says calmly. “Answer it or you’re off this team.”

“Why do I need to answer her? She
isn’t the boss.” What an ass.

“He doesn’t have an answer.” I say
quietly. The other lawyers laugh. Jake smirks.

Edmund stands. “I’ll tell you why
you stupid little cunt, because they may have another offer and it might be
better than ours. We have acquired the stock to take them over, now is the
time.”

“If they had another offer, they
would’ve asked for a counter offer, not turned ours down.” I say it calmly and
wonder where that glimpse of brilliance came from. “And if I ever hear the word
stupid or the word cunt from your mouth ever again, you’ll need a lawyer of
your own.” I stare him down. No pasty human is going to talk down to me like
that. I have no problem waiting in the garage for him and tearing his throat
out like an old school wolf. Nasty bastard.

“I think she’s right.” Jake muses.
“About all of it.” He raises a brow at Edmund. Edmund flops down in his chair.
“There is something she didn’t cover though. If you ever say those words to
anyone inside this building again, I will fire you.” Jake finishes his coffee.
“I have another meeting. You can begin Friday, or Monday if you have plans. It
won’t change anything and if it does, that’s on me. Let them enjoy the
holiday.” Jake stands and I follow him out. The glass door clicks shut behind
me and I hear the yelling start. Jake chuckles and presses the button on the
elevator.

We ride to software. This is a
project status meeting. They talk about the app and where it stands
developmentally, so I take notes. Before the meeting ends, I have a new app on
my phone. So does Jake. My stomach growls loudly as we enter the elevator.
“Hungry baby?” I nod. He pulls out his phone and texts someone.

“Milkshake?” I’m suddenly excited
and happy. I think I’m forming a dairy addiction.

“No, I sent Jocelyn a message to
fix lunch, we have another short meeting with legal, and then we have an hour
to eat.” Not them again. “Different team.” Jake winks. “You’ve seen them
before, in the elevator.” Oh, those guys again. I follow him into the same
boardroom we were in before. There are different guys here now. I recognize two
of them. “This is Jane. She is my new secretary and will be taking notes during
the meeting.” It’s the same thing he’s said at the start of every meeting. I
hear the young lawyer at the end of the table whisper to the older one sitting
next to him. ‘She’s the stupid cunt that Edmund is so pissed about.’ Jake pulls
his cell phone from his pocket. “Excuse me one moment.” Jake says and calls
someone. “Mack. Jake. I want you to escort Edmund Brenner from the building.”
He watches the mouthy guy at the other end of the building pale. “Bring someone
with you.” I can’t hear Mack. “She’s fine, bring her. Let her walk him out.”
Jake ends the call and slides the phone into his shirt pocket.

“If you’re wondering. Mr. Brenner
was instructed not to every repeat those words in my building. I was very clear
when I told him that if he said them to anyone else in this building that I
would fire him. If I hear them from any of you, I have no problem letting you
go as well. Understood?” Everyone is suddenly a bobble head doll. “Now, Jane
was in the elevator with you and over heard that you believe the new app is a
copy. Is it or isn’t it?” Jake waits. I get some nasty stares. “Gentlemen?”

“We think it is. We can’t prove it
yet. The search hasn’t gone through.” The younger of the three says.

“When did you plan on telling me?”
Jake asks. They’re in trouble and they know I caused it. He fumbles and
sputters looking for something to say.

“Jake, today is the first I’ve
heard this.” This one is older even though he doesn’t look like it. He’s
seasoned and refined. He is also smart. “We should delay the announcement until
we are sure. I know you planned to roll this out just before Christmas but we
should take the cautious stance and wait.” I see his eyes flash at me. Shifter.
No one else sees it and I nod. I think he is sincere and I think he’s right.
Jake looks at me and I nod.

“Fine. Let me know when you are
sure.” Jake gets up and I follow him out to our private elevator. We step in
almost immediately because it’s been waiting here. “Good job in there and in
the first meeting. You are making things hard for me though Jane.” I cringe.
