DHASSA—free holy city, seat of Bishop Cardiel of Dhassa, sometime seat of the Gwynedd Curia; known for its wood carvers and the shrines of its patron saints, Torin and Ethelburga, which guard it north and south.
DONNERAL—site of ducal estates earmarked as part of the dowry of Morgan’s sister Bronwyn.
ELEVEN Kingdoms—traditional name for the entire area including and surrounding Gwynedd, though all eleven kingdoms can no longer be delineated.
FIANNA—wine-producing county across the Southern Sea from Corwyn.
FORCINN Buffer States—confederation of lesser principalities stretching southward from Orsalia, under nominal overlordship of the Hort of Orsal.
GRECOTHA—university city and seat of Bishop Bradene of Grecotha, onetime site of the Varnarite School.
GUNURY Pass—southern gateway to Saint Torin’s and Dhassa, in the Lendour Mountains.
GWYNEDD—principal kingdom of the Eleven Kingdoms, long ruled by the Haldanes.
HALDANE—royal duchy comprising the central heartland of Gwynedd, traditionally held by the Crown of Gwynedd.
JACK Dog Tavern—Derry’s drinking spot in the Torenthi port town of Fathane.
JASHAN, Lake—lake guarding the southern approach to Dhassa, at Saint Torin’s, passable by ferry.
KHELDISH Riding—province in the far north of Gwynedd, east of Claibourne, under direct Crown rule; famous for its weavers.
KIERNEY—earldom of Lord Kevin McLain, bordering Cassan, the Mearan Protectorate, and Gwynedd Crown lands.
KINGSLAKE—village in northwest Corwyn visited by Warin; site of the Royal Tabard Inn.
LENDOUR Mountains—mountain range separating Corwyn and Haldane, in which are Dhassa, Saint Torin’s, Saint Neot’s, and the Gunury Pass.
LLYNDRUTH Meadows—grasslands at the foot of the Cardosa Defile.
MARBURY—seat of Bishop Ifor of Marbury.
MARLEY—earldom of Lord Bran Coris.
MEARA—Crown protectorate to the north and west. The kings of Gwynedd are also princes of Meara.
MEDRAS—Torenthi city north of Fathane, staging area for some of Wencit’s troops.
PURPLE March, the—vast meadowlands north of Rhemuth, under direct Crown rule; Lord of the Purple March is one of the titles of the Kings of Gwynedd.
RAMOS—abbey town near Valoret, site of the infamous Council of, which established stringent anti-Deryni laws forbidding Deryni to hold office, own property above a certain value, enter holy orders, etc.
RHELLEDD—Corwyn city near Kingslake, where the Sieur de Vali rode for help against Warin’s raiders.
RHEMUTH—prosperous and beautiful capital city of the Kingdom of Gwynedd.
R’KASSI—desert kingdom south and east of the Hort of Orsal, famed for its blooded horses.
ROYAL Tabard Inn—Kingslake inn where Derry witnessed Warin’s healing of an injured man.
SAINT Ethelburga’s Shrine—shrine of the patroness of Dhassa, guarding its northern approach.
SAINT Giles, Abbey of—abbey in Shannis Meer, near the Eastmarch border, where Queen Jehana went into retreat before Kelson’s birth and after his coronation.
SAINT Matthew’s Gate—gate in the Coroth city walls where the troubadour Gwydion learned one of the songs he sang for Morgan.
SAINT Neot’s—former Deryni monastery, now in ruins, located in the Lendour Mountains between Corwyn and Dhassa.
SAINT Teilo’s Church—parish church in Culdi, burial place of Alyce de Corwyn de Morgan.
