She
was born to be a vampire. She felt it in her entire being.

“We have to save Jaromir,” she said to Carolyn without answering her question.

Throughout the whole change, Jaromir hadn't left her mind. Instead, while she had gone through the process, the bond had grown stronger, and through it she saw where he was. To her, his office was as clear in her mind as the room she was in herself, and Megan knew that it was the other way around for him. He saw the bar in his mind just as clearly as he saw his office. It would always be like this from now on. They would always be a part of each other, always be able to see through each other's eyes.

I'm stronger now than any of these vampires in here
, Jaromir said.
Thanks to your transformation, I can defeat them all now without a fuss. Your strength lingers within my veins now as well, just as my strength lingers within you. If you wish, you can borrow my strength, and I can borrow your speed.

A thought crossed Megan's mind.
That means that I can heal with my blood too if I want to.

Jaromir grinned inside her mind.
Yes. That's exactly what it means. It's just like you said, Megan. We are one now. But we can talk about all this later, we have a kingdom to save, so get going. The sooner you all arrive here the sooner you and I can jump into bed.

She grinned.
That sounds like a good plan.

Megan rose to her feet. She looked straight in front of her, knowing that the vampires around her wondered what was going on. Her weird behavior made them look at each other before their gazes returned to her. She knew
that she had to tell them what was going on.

“I'm talking with Jaromir,” she explained. “Inside my head. Transform
ing through the bond has its benefits.”

The vampires looked surprised at first,
but after a while they grinned. They liked what they were hearing, a lot. Having a straight communication with their King was just what they needed.

Then, to Megan's surprise
, one after another bowed in front of her. Megan winced. She hadn't expected that. She turned her head and looked at Shane. She was just about to ask him why everyone did that when he suddenly did the same.

“My Queen,” Shane said with a wide smile. “Lead the way.”

Megan thought about telling them to stop, but she didn't. They needed this. Instead, she smiled
, nodded and left the building followed by the vampires.

Chapter 3
2

Jaromir pulled on the chains that held him down to the chair while his gaze went from one vampire to the other. He was grinning, and he knew that his grin made them nervous. Even the two so-called potential kings that wanted to take his place were unsure of what to do. Jaromir snorted. They were weak. They would never become good kings if they became unsure in a situation like this. After all, they still had the overhand. He was tied down to a chair, unable to go anywhere. He was at their mercy, but they seemed to have forgotten that.

Jaromir's gaze darkened and his grin grew wider. He enjoyed playing games, and this was a game he enjoy
ed very much. Making strong, nasty and mean looking vampires behave like wimps made him feel powerful. They needed to be put into place, and he would gladly do it.

The vampire with the
dagger in his hand took a step away from him. Jillian didn't like that.

“Kill him,” she demanded. “Kill him before it's too late.”

The man hesitated. “Why is he grinning? There is something wrong with this picture.”

“I don't care. Just do it.”

The man kept hesitating.

Damn it. Give that to me,” Jillian said. Frustration and anger were written all over her face when she took the dagger from the man and stood in front of Jaromir. Jaromir just studied her and wondered if she would be able to kill him.

“Are you sure you want to do this, Jillian? Think things through before you strike.”

She gave him a cold look. “It's too late to go back.”

Jaromir's grin faded. “Yes, it is. Nothing will save you now.”

Jillian snorted. “You're forgetting that you are the one who is tied down, and you will soon be dead.”

Jaromir pulled at
the chains again, but gently. Distracting Jillian with pointless chatter while he tested the chains was way too easy. Before Megan's transformation and their soul binding it would have been impossible for him to get out of them. But now when he was bound to Megan, he could use her strength as if it was his own.

It was difficult to concentrate though. In the same moment he had accepted her transformation and the strong desire had grabbed a hold of him, he had almost lost his
mind. He had heard of the sudden need from the few vampires who had been transformed through the bond a long time ago. They had said that it was an intense experience, but he hadn't expected this. The instant fire came alive within him like a madman, turning his body on to a point that it almost hurt. It felt like his blood would boil soon from the desire and the heat that he felt for Megan. It had taken his breath away for a second, and when he thought that things couldn't get any worse, they did. His longing for Megan didn't remain on one level. Instead, it kept on rising, making him sweat.

Jaromir took small and shallow breaths in an attempt to control this crazy need. He had no idea how, but somehow he had to last. Just a few more minutes, and Megan would be with him.
Damn, it was getting hot inside the room.

In his mind
, he saw that Megan and the other vampires were heading toward the club. Megan was giving them instructions. He heard her talking to them. She was telling them everything she heard from the conversation that he had with Jillian and the other vampires inside his office.

Jaromir smiled to himself. There really would be no
secrets between him and Megan. It would be impossible to hide anything from the other. They both instantly knew what the other thought and felt.

Exactly, lover,
he heard Megan say inside his mind.
No more secrets.

He snorted.
I don't intend to have any. You are all I need.

He felt her smile.
And you are all I need.

He felt proud to have a woman like Megan for his mate.
What a match we are.

Jaromir tried to make it more comfortable for himself on the chair, but his rock hard erection was making it difficult.

Problems, dear?
Megan asked.

Yeah,
things are kind of tight, so get here already. Only you can ease my suffering.

Working on it, sweet
heart. Try to make them tell you how many vampires are inside the club, and keep Jillian talking. The last thing we want is that dagger ending up inside your chest.

Don't worry. She won't get the chance. I'm a lot
faster and stronger now than a regular vampire now, you know.

Oh, I know, dear.
She grinned.
I feel it.

I know you do.

His conversation with Megan inside his mind had taken only a few seconds because they didn't actually have to say the words, and thinking went a lot faster. Jillian and the other vampires barely noticed that something was going on behind their backs. That was exactly how he wanted it.

Jillian grabbed a better hold of the
dagger and pointed it at Jaromir. “I will go far, Jaromir. Unfortunately, you won't be around to see it. I will become everything you never were able to become. You were never a real Vampire King. You're too soft. Vampires need someone strong and powerful.”

“And
you think that one of these idiots will take my place.” He snorted. “They will kill each other before one of them even gets the chance to claim my thrown.” He threw a fast look at all the vampires inside the room. “Let me guess. This is all there is of your little army. Good luck in getting anywhere. Too many vampires stand on my side and they will fight you.”

Jaromir saw that Jillian hesitated. She swayed on her feet and the insecurity in her eyes became more and more obvious. “
They are all I need.”

Jaromir
smiled on the inside. Jillian's words had answered Megan's question. Jillian and these ten men would be easy to take down now, now that Megan's essence sang inside his soul. It would have been impossible just a little while ago. He had thought that his last moment had come, that he would never see Megan again or hold her in his arms.

His life has taken a drastic turn these last few days. He had never seen
this coming.

Do you regret it?
he heard Megan ask even if he knew that she felt that he didn't.

No, my dear. You are the fresh breeze that I needed in my life.

Good, because there will be a fresh breeze inside the club any second now.

Jaromir focused on the image he saw inside his head. Megan and the others were just outside the club. They
walked right up to the entrance and opened the door. Jaromir knew that his club, the Dark Sun, was empty thanks to Jillian's words. He knew her well enough to know that she hadn't been lying. Everyone of her so-called mean minions were inside his office. No one was on a watch to make sure that no surprises came their way.

Jaromir couldn't believe how stupid
they all were. They either had way too much confidence or they were complete idiots. At first, he couldn't figure out how they had overpowered him and everyone else who had been at the club. But on the other hand, they had just stormed in, gone amok and shot wildly all over the place, taking everyone by surprise. Jaromir had barely had the chance to react before he had been cornered.

He had yet to see the damage that had been done to his club, but
he suspected that he would have to shut the club down for a few days. There would be holes on every wall from all the shooting. The bar would need some repairing and a few tables would have to be changed. Money was no issue, but this was all so unnecessary.

Jillian came closer and placed the
dagger against his cheek. “Well, it has been nice knowing you, Jaromir. It's time to get this over with.”

She raised her hand that held the dagger and aimed for Jaromir's chest.

Chapter 3
3

It was strange. Everything was so quiet inside the Dark Sun. When she had been in here the last time there had been people and sounds everywhere. The lights had been on and there had been a welcoming and appealing atmosphere. Now the light was dull, chairs were turned over, splinters of glass lay on the floor around the bar and there were holes in the walls from all the shooting.

Megan had felt
, just a second ago, that Jaromir had thought about his club. He had worried about what had to be repaired, but now his focus was somewhere else. Jillian was about to end his life, and it was a matter of seconds.

Megan had never felt more stressed in her entire life. She saw it all happen inside her mind like she was watchin
g a movie. Jaromir sat tied to the chair with a serious gaze in his eyes. He was looking at Jillian when she raised her hand and prepared herself to stab him. Megan knew that Jillian would do it several times. Killing a vampire wasn't easy, but Jillian would keep stabbing him just for the fun of it. Megan knew her well enough by now to know that Jillian enjoyed seeing others suffer. There had been hesitation in Jillian's eyes at first, but her confidence returned fast. She smiled wickedly at Jaromir and ...

“No,” Megan gasped and ran through the club as if her pants were on fire. She knew that Jaromir was a lot stronger now thanks to her transformation, but he was alone in there with a bunch of mean vampires
and a crazy woman. He was also tied down with chains to a chair. It was possible for him to break the chains now, but it would take time. Time he didn't have.

Shane, Carolyn, Ivan and the others followed her without a word.
Megan didn't hesitate a second. She threw open the door, and with a roar she lunged for Jillian. In the corner of her eye, Megan saw that the Shane and others attacked Jillian's gang. Taking them all by surprise. Chaos broke out around her, but she didn't care. Her focus was on Jillian who had fallen to the floor when Megan had pushed her away from Jaromir.

“What a hell?” Jillian yelled before she got up on her feet.

Megan didn't have to look at Jaromir to know that he was struggling with his chains. They were slowly giving in, but he needed more time before he would be free. Megan intended to give him that.

This time it was Jillian who was the weak one, and Megan liked that. Playing cat-and-mouse with her felt tempting. Megan wanted Jillian
to go through the same treatment she had been through.

Megan noticed that Jillian's nose was whole again. She
recalled that Shane had broken a bone or two in Jillian's body in the attic. Megan had heard her screams and the breaking sounds, but Jillian looked fine now. Maybe someone had healed her, but it didn't matter. She would make sure that no one would ever be able to heal her again.
