About the Author
Gail Collins is an op-ed columnist for the
New York Times.
From 2001 to 2007 she was the editor of the
Times
editorial page, the first woman ever to hold that job. In her earlier incarnations she was a columnist for
New York Newsday
and the
Daily News.
She is the author of six books, including
When Everything Changed: The Amazing Journey of American Women from 1960 to the Present
and a recent biography of President William Henry Harrison.
Collins, who lives in Manhattan with her husband, Dan Collins, was born in Ohio, which produced way more presidents than Texas but still does not seem to have the same cachet.
